Vintage Timberworks supplies reclaimed wood products for projects requiring architectural grade lumber, timbers, and flooring. It is that small touch which our unique products offer that sets your project apart. Following are updates on new products and incoming inventory which you may find interesting and useful. All products are FSC certified and eligible for LEED MR4 (materials reuse) and MR5 (regional materials) credits.

Contractor Steve Simunac’s blend of timber and stone captures the essence of eclectic Southern California architecture, (in this case a blend of Tuscan and Mountain architecture). The timbers he used to create the trusses were lightly sanded rough sawn timbers with some of the original patina remaining. These reclaimed Douglas fir beams were originally used to construct grain elevators in the Canadian prairies which were located adjacent to the major train routes. Now that the grain elevators time has passed, it was time to find them a new home. As with fine wine, they just get better with age.

Our latest new, exciting product is engineered barn board parquet flooring.

Produced from authentic barn siding (predominately white oak), the material is cut into precise dimensions and glued up to a plywood backing. The product is then lightly sanded with our proprietary process. The end result is a parquet floor which looks like it was reclaimed somewhere in Europe with all the inherent character marks including a slightly uneven worn surface appearance. And all of this with the performance and peace of mind you get with an engineered floor. The tiles are ¾" thick with a 3/16" wear surface and net out at 38" square or approximately 10 SF each. It is a great accent piece when used in conjunction with our reclaimed barn board plank flooring.

We are currently reclaiming Douglas fir timbers in an abandoned sawmill located in Port Alberni on
Vancouver Island in British Columbia. The material includes 14x14 10-40’, 4x12 10-40’, and 8x8 24-26’.

The timbers are rough circular sawn with a beautiful brown patina. We expect the grain structure to be extremely tight as this is characteristic of timbers milled in this area around the turn of the century. The deconstruction will be tricky as most of the mill structure is located over water and great care must be taken to contain the debris. These timbers should be available in May 2010.
