MILLING SERVICES
SAWMILL
SAWMILL - Our horizontal bandsaw sawmills give us the ability to cut a wide variety products ranging from board stock to very large, long timbers. We can resize reclaimed, dimensional timber to something smaller producing a straight, precision sized timber with a bandsawn surface. If you prefer a different surface appearance, we can then take the timber and produce the appearance which works best in your architecture. With our large sawmill, we have the capacity to produce up to a 25"x35"x 60' dimensional timber.

BANDSAW
BANDSAW - With one stationary and two articulating band-saws, we can cut about any set of curves you can dream up. They are the perfect machines for cutting arches, truss braces, rounded table tops, and corbels. And we can cut up to 18" in thickness and long lengths so don't let size hold you back in your design.

CIRCULAR SAW
CIRCULAR SAW - For those of you who prefer a circular sawn appearance, we now have special equipment which will create this texture. The material is first sawn from something larger using our horizontal bandsaw, creating perfectly sized, straight lumber. The material is then passed through our circular sawmill to retexture the surface with the circular sawn appearance. It will have the appearance of fresh sawn lumber.

METAL DETECTING
METAL DETECTING - Our metal detecting department is second to none. Over the years we have become experts at detecting and removing all forms of embedded hardware. This is essential for material destined for machine milling. Additionally, Vintage can detect and remove embedded hardware in your reclaimed lumber on an hourly basis.

SANDING
SANDING - Over the years Vintage has developed a number of sanding devices and techniques designed for detailing the uneven surfaces of rustic material. As most of these tools are custom built right down to the sandpaper, you won't be able to find them anywhere else in the industry. We can lightly sand the surface leaving most of the patina and character or sand off most of the original surface to a smooth or raised grain appearance. These sanders have the capacity to sand material up to 24" thick x 36"wide. We also have standard drum sanding available which allows us to drum sand material up to 36" wide and up to 8" thick.

PLANING
PLANING - Our planer creates the standard surfaced appearance characteristic of most contemporary lumber stock. Vintage can plane material up to 24" wide and 9-12" thick. One note of caution... knots on seasoned dry material have a tendency to fall apart during the planning process. Saw sizing then surface sanding is a better option for most reclaimed seasoned material.

EDGING
EDGING - The Woodmiser edger produces straight edged boards up to 15" wide and 2-1/2" thick. This is a great tool when the application calls for a rustic face board which butts directly up to another with no void in between boards such as in furniture and cabinets manufacturing.

RESAW
RESAW - Our resaw is primarily used to split material rapidly and with great accuracy. It is typically used to split 2x reclaimed lumber into two individual 1" pieces each with one old face. In essence you create double the amount of coverage for one face applications such as roof decking and cabinet stock.

HAND ADZING
HAND ADZING - After nearly 2 decades we believe we have perfected the art of recreating the "authentic" hand hewn appearance found on 100 plus year old barn beams. We use special tools and techniques in creating hand hewn material using both reclaimed Douglas fir and hardwood barn beams. If you prefer to use your own material, we can recreate a hand hewn appearance on it for you.

TRUSS FABRICATION
TRUSS FABRICATION - Building trusses with reclaimed timber is truly an art form. Due to its character, the timbers are inherently uneven, lack uniformity, and can include some degree of twisting. It takes a master carpenter to be able to join the material like this together so that it looks like it has been there forever. Vintage has the technology and personnel to fabricate stunning trusses for you ready for assembly onsite or ship the completed trusses ready to crane in place.

PRECUT ROOF SYSTEMS
PRECUT ROOF SYSTEMS - As with the trusses, creating open beam ceilings and roofs using reclaimed beams can be challenging. The carpentry needs to be done with skill and precision so that the roof has the appearance of having always been there and not just some old timbers slapped together for effect. If your carpenters are not up for the challenge, ours are. The roof system is carefully cut and assembled here at the yard. It is then labeled and disassembled for delivery. This takes a lot of the guesswork out of the building process.

CUSTOM FURNITURE/DOORS
CUSTOM FURNITURE/DOORS - It's simple! Just bring us your idea for that custom table, counter top, or front door you've always wanted. We'll help design something which will be your own unique statement and build it for you with the finest reclaimed wood available.

BOX BEAMS
BOX BEAMS - Vintage box beams are virtually indistinguishable from solid beams. Box beams give you the advantage of being able to conceal unattractive structural elements such as glu-lams, steel I-beams, and steel columns. They can also be used to replace solid beams in applications precluding the use of the heavier solid beams. We can fabricate them in most sizes and in most species and appearances.
