Reclaimed Chestnut is the only source of this beautiful species due to a blight that wiped out almost all Chestnut trees in the early 1900’s. Most Chestnut barn wood is sold to be used with a freshly planed surface to reveal the wood’s great brown coloration and worm holes that many find romantic – thus the reason it is often referred to as “Wormy Chestnut”. This provides an antique look without a ultra-rustic cabin feel. Originating from barns dating back to the mid 1700’s on the East Coast, reclaimed Chestnut barnwood flooring is available in a range of widths typically from 3”-6” and random lengths up to 7’+. We can mill the flooring as a solid wood flooring or engineered wood flooring. With the exception of surfaced Chestnut, all Chestnut flooring products are supplied strictly random width and a minimum setup fee will be applied to jobs less than 500 square feet.
This stunning recycled floor starts with the chestnut barn siding planks which are painstakingly selected for quality. Each board is sent through a special sander which lightly sands the surface while leaving the patina and character marks on the wood floor. This reclaimed barn board flooring is available in 3-6″ random width and in lengths to 10′. Because of the varied surface of the raw material, this flooring is highly recommended to be milled as an engineered product to maximize flat surfaces. Herringbone and other patterns available upon request for an additional cost.
This reclaimed wood floor product is similar to our “Rustic Chestnut” flooring with the difference being the amount of sanding we have done to it. Each plank is passed through our sander to smooth out the boards further without removing all of the original character. Depending on the level of character desired, this can be installed and sanded a little further on site. This product is available typically as mixed width (generally 3″-8″). Uniform width available on rare circumstances when inventory permits. Herringbone and other patterns available upon request for an additional cost.
This reclaimed wood flooring is created using rustic chestnut barnwood planks. Each board is passed through a planer to remove all the patina and mill marks. The smooth surface retains the character of wormy chestnut with small seasoning checks or cracks, nail holes and other marks showing it age. This product can also be provided with a bandsaw texture, or wire brushed. It is available in a specified width or as mixed width (generally 3″-8″) and is available either solid or engineered. This is a popular option for a more refined appearance and can be stained on site. Herringbone and other patterns available upon request for an additional cost. Please specify if you would like square edges (shown) or eased edges when placing your order.
