Southern California’s Largest Selection of IN-STOCK Reclaimed Wood Mantels

With over two million board feet of reclaimed lumber across our five-acre Southern California lumberyard, Vintage Timberworks maintains one of the region’s largest selections of solid reclaimed wood fireplace mantels available for immediate purchase.

Each mantel is cut from authentic antique wood beams salvaged from 19th- and early 20th-century barns, warehouses, and industrial structures throughout the United States. These are not newly manufactured reproductions — they are genuine antique timbers salvaged with original saw marks, hand-hewn texture, checking, knots, and rich patina remain intact, giving every reclaimed wood mantel its own distinct character.

Our in-stock reclaimed wood mantels and floating shelves are carefully prepared and ready for installation and finish. Processed pieces are available in lengths up to 8′ and can include sought-after species such as reclaimed Douglas fir, Antique White Oak, Hickory, old-growth Redwood, and Heart Pine. The range of tones, surface textures, and proportions can complement both modern and traditional interiors.

Because mantels are often the architectural focal point of a room, we strongly recommend selecting your piece in person. No appointment is necessary to visit our facility and select a mantel to take it home the same day.

Showroom mantels are typically sold “as is.” If a beam is slightly longer than required, final trimming to exact length is commonly completed during installation.

We’re happy to discuss custom mantel options, however, we generally recommend personally visiting our facility to select from our extensive in-stock inventory of solid reclaimed wood fireplace mantels whenever possible.

Because a reclaimed wood mantel often serves as the focal point of a room, seeing the exact beam — with its true color, texture, checking, and patina — is critical. Reclaimed wood varies significantly from piece to piece, and even light milling or sanding can subtly alter tone, surface texture, and overall character. For this reason, selecting an in-stock mantel in its milled/sanded condition is considered the safest way to insure you recieve the exact desired result.

If the exact right piece is n0t found in our processed inventory and details regarding character and texture are critical, we have an enormous selection of raw timbers available for hand-section from our 5-acre lumberyard. Beams selected from the yard can be taken home same day – allowing any final sanding or milling to be completed on site to preserve the nuances that made the piece desirable.

For custom projects requiring specific dimensions, corbels, mitered returns, or specialty shapes, our team will evaluate current inventory and our crew will select the most suitable material for fabrication. However, it is important to understand that sanding, cutting, and preparation often changes the appearance of the wood compared to its original state.

We do not fabricate hollow box beam mantels with closed or mitered ends, as we are committed to maintaining the authentic appearance of solid reclaimed wood beams. For customers looking to cover an existing mantel substrate or install a lighter-weight option, we can supply loose reclaimed wood boards to be mitered and assembled on site.

If you’re not able to find the right piece from our showroom selection, you’re also welcomed to browse our lumberyard inventory of over a MILLION board feet of reclaimed wood beams and we can help guide you in the right direction and explain the entire process. For customers looking for a hollow mantel (also known as a box beam or laminated wood beam), we can sell loose boards to be mitered and fabricated on site by the installer
